Job Posting: Retail Manager/Field Crew

Mahonia Gardens, Sisters, OR

April 22 through November 1, 2024

**Required: Demonstrated interest in local and organic food systems **

Position open until filled.

Mahonia Gardens is a one-acre market garden operating in Sisters, Oregon, dedicated to growing quality produce. We use only organic practices, focusing on soil health, plant biodiversity, and a sustainable lifestyle for the humans involved. The farm was started in 2013, making 2024 our 12th season.

We primarily sell produce through our self-serve, honor system farm stand, “The Stand”, which is located at our home in downtown Sisters. The farm is on leased land about a half mile from our home and The Stand. Our crop plan is based around sales at The Stand, although we also sell wholesale produce through various outlets.

The Retail Manager’s primary role will be maintaining The Stand. The Stand has become a bustling and growing seasonal store, open May 1 through October 31. We sell our own vegetables as well as fruits, veggies and other products sourced through local farms and distributors. Everything we source at The Stand is either certified organic or brought in from a trusted, non-certified farm using organic practices.

We have two children, Junius (6) and Lupine (2). We are looking for responsible employees who can understand the needs of parents with young children. Benji assumes the role as primary farm manager while Carys will be on farm as much as possible amid caretaking the kiddos and tying up loose ends around the homestead.
